A November to Remember in Lake Hartwell Country

November is a beautiful time of year here in Lake Hartwell Country. Despite the shorter days and cooler temperatures, there are still plenty of events, activities, and destinations for you to experience! Build life-long memories with our favorite late-fall adventures.

Make It a Mill Day: Historic Hagood Mill was built in 1845, but it’s still operational today. The mill boasts a long list of one-of-a-kind attractions, including Native American petroglyphs; historical classes about blacksmithing, medicinal plants, and old-time cooking; monthly cultural events; and more. November’s festival is a celebration of Native American culture, where you can learn about the indigenous people who lived in Lake Hartwell Country long before us. And while you’re there, purchase some freshly milled grains at their store, all of which are ground using the nearly 200-year-old mill itself.

Camp Under the Stars: Elevate your camping experience – literally – with Come Sleep in the Trees. They offer a luxury camping experience with two stunning treetop cabins in Mountain Rest. This adults-only getaway is ultra-private and the perfect chance to get cozy with your loved one. Vintage, rustic, and magical, you’ll be able to enjoy the longer nights eye-to-eye with the stars above.

Hit the Road: The peak of leaf-peeping season is here, and we love to see the changing trees whose leaves provide a bold pop of color. Lake Hartwell Country is home to several picturesque drives, winding through the mountains and down to the lakeshores. Fill up the car and hit the road for a leisurely trip through stunning natural scenery. We encourage you to explore off the main highways and take some time in a charming small town. What will you discover on your drive?

Take Time for Tea: When you think of a tea farm, you may think of sprawling mountain farms in China and Tibet or tropical plantations in India. But did you know our own mountains in Lake Hartwell Country are home to a tea farm, too? Table Rock Tea Company cultivates and produces American-grown tea. You can take a free farm tour Thursdays through Sundays and learn more about their process. Don’t forget to buy some tea blends to go: 10% of all sales goes to charity, so each sip of steaming hot tea will make you feel extra warm and fuzzy inside!

Pick a Piece of Produce: It’s not too late in the year for fresh produce! Chattooga Belle Farm has such a wide range of fruits to pick, some are just becoming ripe now in November. Persimmons, muscadines, scuppernongs, and some varieties of apple are in their prime time, and more options are available in the store. Pick a few then head indoors to enjoy the bistro, distillery, and farm store. Just make sure to check their schedule before you head out: as a popular wedding venue, access to the fruit fields and parts of the property may be limited.
